THANK YOU SO MUCH, wow, it’s hard for me to imagine anyone following my work for that long. Thank you again, I try to work hard but I always feel like I could be doing more to improve. This is incredibly encouraging to hear.

I feel like I should post my stuff to DA again, but I just like tumblr so much more. On the other hand, I think it indulges my shyness too much, haha.

AWWW what cuties I hope they had a lovely campaign (they had to, looking at eachothers gorgeous faces kept them going)

HAHA I’M SURE IT TOOK THE EDGE OFF. They both had pretty hard lives. They started out the campaign loathing one another, because Linus (my PC) bullied Jens when they were children. Linus has been dying from an unknown illness for years, and Jens is the apothecary who’s been reluctantly keeping him alive. Uh, despite that, Jens only joined the party because Linus inadvertently destroyed his social standing. He also rescued him from a plot to make him the scapegoat for poisoning the king, though!

Their adventure has taken 5+ years in-universe (a little over a year in the real world), so they had plenty of time to mend their terrible relationship. They’re very attached to one another now.

Linus and Jens’ campaign is nearing its end, so I found the file for this picture and kind of wrapped it up as a quick tribute. I really love these characters, and it’ll be sad to retire them, but I’m looking forward to the end of their story anyway.

OH WOW, well, thank you very much!

As for advice, I don’t even know where to begin. I’m still figuring stuff out myself. I never went to art school and my art lacks a lot of strong foundations, but I’ve always just tried to tell myself to keep moving and keep working on it.

I think what’s most important is to try and disregard thoughts about what you should and should not enjoy artistically. I dealt with a lot of negativity about wanting to focus on cartoon art instead of classical art, and was even told my disposition was too meek to make it in the competitive art world. As I am pretty meek and sensitive, at the age of 16 I believed them, and was terrified professional art would eat me alive. This led to me not applying to any art schools, and I think stunted my advancement for a few years. When I’m able to focus on art making me happy above anyone else, I’m the most content with my progress and the most ambitious about my improvement. Be persistent, and don’t hold yourself back because you don’t feel good enough, because you’re never going to be as good as you want to be.
